Permanent full-time or a temporary full-time position available for an Advanced Clinical Coder.

The purpose of this role is to:
• Design, manage, coordinate and implement training and education programmes for experienced and trainee Clinical Coders.
• Undertake audits, add value to current auditing processes through the analysis and validation of audit results, and subsequent design and delivery of education programmes to the Coding Team.
• To coordinate, lead and participate in the Clinician Coder Liaison Programme.
• To ensure a high standard of coding accuracy is delivered in accordance with organisational goals, guidelines and standards to the executive management of the Townsville Hospital Health Service.
Requirements of the role
• Minimum 4 years clinical coding experience.
• Advanced and/or Intermediate Health Information Management Association (HIMAA) Clinical Coding qualifications, degree in Health Information Management or equivalent.
• While not mandatory, the following is highly desirable
 Clinical Coding External and Internal Auditing Certificate.
 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
• This position involves travel to rural hospitals within the Townsville Hospital Health Service to provide coding services. This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
How you will be assessed
• Comprehensive understanding of clinical classification, disease process, diagnostic and procedural terminology and the application of patient information systems of a large teaching hospital.
• Demonstrated expertise and knowledge of the assignment and validation of clinical codes, particularly with respect to ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in quality management activities and principles with proven ability in the design and performance of competency based training programs and audits, including analysis and problem solving.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new tasks and undertake tasks requiring high attention to detail while working to strict deadlines within a data management framework.
Generous remuneration package value up to $109,238 p.a. comprising salary range of $3372.80 to $3669.80 p.f. (AO5), 17.5% leave loading, 12.75 % employer contribution to superannuation.
