An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Health Information Manager/Clinical Coder to join the HIS team at Northern Health. The role is based in our coding team and includes, ICD-10-AM coding from the Clinical Patient Folder (scanned medical record) using the 3M Codefinder, auditing and other quality related activities.

In the first instance this role is a full time, fixed term (maternity leave cover) position at 80 hours per fortnight

Responsibilities / Duties: 

Coding of discharged patient medical records from the Clinical Patient Folder (scanned medical record) using the 3M Codefinder software.

Retrospective audits of admitted patient episodes to optimise WIES funding.

Participate in quality improvement related activities as required.


Eligible for full membership with HIMAA

• Successful completion of a recognised coding course

• Working knowledge of ICD-10-AM, ACHI and ACS

• Effective communication and management skills

• Proven ability to achieve targets and deadlines


• Knowledge of current casemix funding models

• Thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology

• Experience using 3M codefinder and a scanned medical record
