WW6668 - EL1 Senior Project Officer, National Health Classifications - Non-ongoing/Temporary - Executive Secretariat, Canberra, ACT

The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) are seeking two (2) EL1 Senior Project Officers to provide high level support to the Executive and Metadata and METeOR units in the Data Governance Group. The units are looking for organised, motivated, details-minded and personable individuals to join our teams supporting the development of a national health information strategy and a program of work to inform decision-making regarding implementation of International Classification of Diseases 11th Revision (ICD-11) in Australia.

AIHW is an independent corporate Commonwealth entity established by the Australian Government to provide reliable, regular and relevant information and statistics on the health and welfare of Australians.

The Data Governance Group works to protect confidentiality and privacy in relation to AIHW’s data holdings, through provision of data governance leadership across the AIHW, including through the roles of AIHW Privacy Officer and AIHW Privacy Champion. The Group supports the work of the AIHW Ethics Committee, and is working to establish high quality data governance arrangements for the secondary use of data from the My Health Record electronic health record system.

The Metadata and METeOR Unit supports AIHW’s metadata capability, manages the Metadata Online Repository (METeOR), and contributes nationally and internationally to health classifications development.

The Executive Secretariat Unit provides support to the AIHW Board, Director, Executive and national information committees. It also undertakes the strategic management of internal and external relationships critical to the AIHW's role.

Responsibilities / Duties:

Under limited direction, the successful applicant will be required to:

- Work within a small team and with senior management of AIHW to undertake a program of work to inform decision-making regarding implementation of International Classification of Diseases 11th Revision (ICD-11) in Australia
- Work to progress detailed project planning and stakeholder consultation, with consideration of the intersection of this work and other national health information initiatives
- Write information, reporting, briefing and committee documents related to the program of work, including to publication standard
- Provide Secretariat support to the AIHWs Australian Health Classifications Advisory Committee, and contribute to related work with international classification development committees as required.

- Good research and analytical skills, and ability to apply them to new areas of work
- Well-developed written skills with experience in writing policy, committee and/or research papers
- Excellent interpersonal and liaison skills and a strong client service focus including the ability to communicate effectively with external stakeholders, colleagues and clients
- Demonstrated ability to plan, determine priorities, develop work practices, and manage complex projects
- A good understanding of the health sector and relevant intergovernmental relationships
- A good understanding of health information issues.
