WW6549 - Manager Health Dataset Collections and Reporting - (Part-time) - Peninsula Health

Peninsula Health currently has an opportunity for an experienced Health Information Manager to provide leadership to the Health Dataset Team accountable for the reporting of Commonwealth and State Health Department minimum datasets across the health service. The Manager will be instrumental in the development and implementation of audit procedures and processes to ensure data reported by Peninsula Health reflects a strong commitment to data integrity practices supportive of high quality data.

Good planning, communication and engagement is a key to the success of this role, involving a wide range of stakeholders.

Responsibilities / Duties: 
  • Manage various mandatory dataset submissions across Peninsula Health
  • Develop and maintain a sustainable reconciliation process of datasets between Peninsula Health and Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)
  • Undertake investigations to identify root causes of data quality issues
  • Undertake regular process reviews of data recording and reporting practices
  • Ensure separation of functional responsibility and management oversight for data collection management, data extraction, and submission to DHHS
  • Conduct annual reviews of internal policies and procedures related to data management, triggered by DHHS’ annual release of updated data collection manuals
  • Design and facilitate an internal auditing program for all dataset extracts
  • Coordinate and respond to external audits by liaising with Victorian Agency for Health Information (VAHI) and relevant Peninsula Health stakeholders
  • Facilitate implementation of health data integrity audit recommendations
  • Liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure Peninsula Health is meeting relevant reporting obligations
  • Initiate data quality activities undertaken by the Health Dataset Team and escalate any identified issues where appropriate
  • Facilitate education and training program for relevant Peninsula Health staff using front end applications which feed datasets, to ensure quality of input and process compliance
  • Bachelor or Master degree in Health Information Management, Information Systems, Health Profession or other related field
  • Developed skills in the extraction, analysis and reporting of data, with a high level of attention to detail
  • Extensive knowledge of DHHS data reporting requirements for statutory extracts
  • Excellent computer skills including well developed knowledge of MS Office products
  • Possess the ability to manage competing demands with a structured approach to problem solving
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of using patient/client management information systems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
