WW6497 - Health Information Manager - (Full-time) - The Royal Children's Hospital, Parkville VIC


The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) Melbourne is one of the world's great children's hospitals. We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas. With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 4500, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people. An opportunity exists for a permanent, full-time grade 2 Health Information Manager to join our Health Information Services team at The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with our electronic medical record (EMR) system which our hospital successfully implemented in April 2016.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Health Information Manager, preferably with coding experience, with an aptitude for quality and high regard for detail. This role primarily involves submission of PRS/2 and AIMS data, coding inpatient episodes in an accurate and timely manner, and other non-coding tasks.


Responsibilities / Duties: 
  • Submission of accurate and complete PRS/2 data to the Department of Health & Human Services.
  • Submission of accurate and complete AIMS data to the Department of Health & Human Services.
  • Amend PAS data to ensure accuracy and completeness when required
  • Liaise with ward staff and other administrative departments regarding data accuracy in PAS
  • Complete coding and indexing of hospital separations in an accurate and timely manner, whilst still meeting daily targets


Essential: 
  • Qualification in Health Information Management or equivalent
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Evidence of high attention to detail and problem solving skills


Desirable: 
  • Experience in PRS/2 data submission preferred but not essential.
  • Experience in clinical coding preferred but not essential.
