Salary: $88,718 to $100,674 per annum

Responsibilities / Duties: 

The Role:

  • Management and organisation of the Clinical Coders across the South within the THS.
  • Responsible for the performance of accurate and timely Clinical Coding for inpatient separations in accordance with Hospital, State and Commonwealth data standards and reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for accurate Australian Refined Diagnosis Related Group (AR-DRG) assignment for funding, inpatient activity, clinical and non-clinical research, case mix analysis and patient care quality improvement.
  • Responsible for utilisation of coding resources to provide continual auditing of clinical coding and clinical documentation to ensure high quality data and identify, communicate, develop and implement coding and documentation quality strategies across the South inpatient facilities within the THS.
  • Responsible for utilisation of coding resources to provide continual education to THS Clinical Coders, clinical, financial, management and other relevant staff to enhance the quality of clinical coding, clinical documentation and ensure accurate assignment of AR-DRGs.
  • Provide high level specialist advice to clinical and non-clinical staff in the areas of clinical classification, AR-DRGs, the Tasmanian Admission and Discharge Policy, Tasmanian Allocation Funding Model and patient information.
