Duties and Responsibilities:

An exciting opportunity exists for a Health Information Manager to join our Health Audit Team at the Medibank head office in Docklands. You will be an active member of a team that collaborates with hospitals to provide excellence and integrity in hospital claiming.

The Healthcare and Strategy team is focused on redefining the way healthcare will be purchased, funded and delivered in order to improve the health system experience. Our aim is to create a centre of excellence that is driven by innovation, clinical expertise, the patient experience and informed healthcare purchasing. Therefore we are building our capability by investing in provider management, analytics and insights capability.

You will be supported by a team of Health Information Managers, Clinical Coders, Data Analysts, Clinicians and Claims specialists.

About you

This role will suit an organised and confident Health Information Manager with an eye for detail and strong time management skills. Presenting with coding experience, ideally at a tertiary level, you will be supported by the appropriate qualifications.

Sound knowledge of DRGs, current coding experience with ICD-10-AM/ACHI and strong communication skills will be crucial to your success in this position.

You will also have competent knowledge and skills with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel.

While not mandatory, a knowledge and understanding of the private health insurance sector, will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities / Duties: 

In this role you will be required to:

  • Conduct hospital claim reviews, refund requests and manage other admission related queries;
  • Provide accurate advice and guidance on payment integrity initiatives, including advice on casemix, DRG and clinical coding matters to internal and external stakeholders in relation to hospital claim payments;
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of solutions to ensure strong data quality and payment integrity;
  • Analyse and report on payment integrity data, outcomes and trends
  • Participate in data integrity activities to ensure compliance with hospital contractual agreements, Australian Coding Standards and other industry guidelines and
  • Conduct audits of claims for external parties, as required
