St Vincent’s Private Hospital Melbourne (SVPHM) is a facility of St Vincent’s Health Australia under the stewardship of Mary Aikenhead Ministries. We are a not for profit Catholic private hospital which operates across four sites at Fitzroy, East Melbourne, Kew and Werribee.

An opportunity exists for a motivated Clinical Coder to join our supportive coding team. You will have access to a very broad casemix, our coding education and mentoring program and exposure to internal and external coding audits. You will also be working for one of the leading private not-for-profit healthcare providers in Victoria.

Duties Include:

  • Coding and DRG Assignment
  • Allocate disease and procedure codes for each hospital discharge using the official NCCH Australian version of ICD-10 AM
  • Assign DRGs to all coded records Liaise with relevant areas to obtain additional information required to perform coding
  • Participate in monthly coding meetings Perform other duties associated with coding eg- cancer registration


Applicants will have:

Good knowledge of Australian Coding Standards Knowledge of DRGs and Casemix High level of computer literacy Be eligible for Full or Affiliate Membership to the Health Information Management
