The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) is seeking talented and passionate executive level professionals to work in a number of our analytical and statistical units across various Groups in the Institute.

This selection process will be used to fill several EL1 positions across the Institute and to establish an order of merit, which may be used to fill similar ongoing and non-ongoing EL1 positions over the next twelve months. Positions are currently available in our Hospitals, Resourcing and Classifications Group, Housing and Specialised Services Group, Indigenous and Maternal Health Group, Community Services Group, Communications and Primary Health Care Group and our Health Group.

Immediate Manager: Unit Head (EL 2)
Supervisory Responsibilities: APS level staff
Under general direction:

  • Work collaboratively with the Unit Head and other EL1 officers within the Unit to provide leadership, direction and performance management of staff and the effective management of allocated resources.
  • Manage complex projects and/or activities and provide administrative and/or professional support.
  • Undertake the management and/or analysis of data including the preparation of reports
  • Provide advice and develop options on professional, technical and management matters.
  • Liaise and negotiate with other areas of the AIHW, other Commonwealth government agencies, State and Local authorities and/or business or community organisations, and represent the AIHW at meetings as appropriate to the responsibilities above.
