The Opportunity

The Healthcare and Strategy team is focused on redefining the way healthcare will be purchased, funded and delivered in order to improve the health system experience. Our aim is to create a centre of excellence that is driven by innovation, clinical expertise, the patient experience and informed healthcare purchasing. Therefore we are building our capability by investing in provider management, analytics and insights capability.

  • Provides accurate advice on casemix, DRG and clinical coding matters to internal and external stakeholders in relation to hospital claim payment issues.
  • Reviews DRGs and ICD-10 codes to ensure compliance with Australian Coding Standards
  • Reviews claims to ensure compliance with hospital contracting arrangements.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of solutions to ensure strong data quality and payment integrity


This is an exciting and diverse role supported by a team of Health Information Managers, Clinical Coders, Data Analysts, Clinicians and Claims specialists.

Essential:
Key skills and experience required include:

  • Degree Qualification in Health Information Management or Clinical Coder Qualification
  • At least 2 years post-graduate experience in a clinical coding position, preferably at tertiary level
  • Current coding experience with ICD-10-AM/ACHI
  • Sound knowledge of DRGs
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Competent knowledge and skills with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel
  • Advanced organisational skills and effective time management
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Process driven
  • Strong data quality focus


Desirable:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the private health insurance sector
