WW6230 - Health Information Manager / Clinical Coder - (Part -time) - Bairnsdale Regional Health Service, Bairnsdale, VIC


A rare opportunity has arisen for a talented individual with clinical coding experience, who is looking for a permanent role in a part time capacity.

In this role you will enjoy working within our friendly and dedicated team to provide timely and accurate analysis and coding of medical records. This position offers a contract for 24.0 hours per fortnight until September 2018 and 16.0 hours per fortnight ongoing. There is also the opportunity to work additional hours (up to full time) to provide 2 months leave coverage within the team from mid-July to mid-September 2018.

Responsibilities / Duties: 
  • The role of the Health Information Manager/Clinical Coder is to provide timely and accurate analysis of medical records in order to allocate ICD 10 AM codes to diagnoses, operations and procedures relevant to the admitted patient’s episode of care for BRHS and other smaller regional hospitals as required.


Essential: 
  • A tertiary qualification in Health Information Management A minimum of 12 months experience performing clinical coding and using grouping software with the ability to code moderate to complex patient episodes of care.
  • A good understanding of Victoria’s public funding model.
  • Excellent analytic skills with the ability to identify deficiencies in documentation
  • A sound clinical knowledge to enable accurate analysis of medical documentation Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook including excellent attention to detail and accurate data entry skills.
  • Experience working with electronic patient management programs is required. IPM and 3M encoder experience is an advantage.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to discuss coding issues effectively with clinicians.
  • Professional and positive attitude with a strong quality customer focus.
