WW5969 - Health Information Manager - Forms Coordinator - (Full-time) - St Vincent's Private Hospital Melbourne, Fitzroy, VIC


St Vincent’s Private Melbourne is a facility of St Vincent’s Health Australia under the stewardship of Mary Aikenhead Ministries. We are a not for profit Catholic private hospital which operates across four sites at Fitzroy, East Melbourne, Kew and Werribee (opening August 2017).

An opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Health Information Manager to join our supportive coding team. You will benefit from our coding education & mentor program and extensive internal and external coding audits.

You will also be working for one of the leading private not-for-profit healthcare providers in Victoria whilst performing the following:

  • Allocate accurate disease and procedure codes for inpatient episodes using ICD-10-AM and ACHI
  • Assign DRGs to all coded records
  • Liaise with relevant areas to obtain additional information required to perform coding
  • Participate in coding audits, education sessions, and regular meetings
  • Perform other duties associated with coding e.g. - cancer registration, documentation audits
  • Coordinate the management of medical records forms including regular Forms Committee meetings and liaising with external printers
  • Participate in the national Forms Standardisation Project


Applicants will have:

  • Bachelor of Health Information Management (or equivalent)
  • Good knowledge of Australian Coding Standards
  • Good knowledge of DRGs and casemix funding
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills
  • Understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To provide a range of services relating to Health Information Management including Coding, DRG Assignment and Coding Audits Medical Records Forms Management NSQHS Equip and Quality Improvement and other HIM duties


Essential:

  • Bachelor of Health Information Management (or equivalent) Eligible for membership of the Health Information Management Association of Australia


Desirable:

  • 2 years experience in ICD-10 AM Coding and DRG assignment
