About the role

This is a unique opportunity to step into a strategic, leadership role in Health Information Management in one of NSW’s largest Health Services.

The District Coding Manager is responsible for the professional leadership of clinical coders across Hunter New England Local Health District; and is required to facilitate and ensure the maintenance of a high level of coding quality and accuracy across the District and ensure completion of coding within designated deadlines to facilitate high quality clinical information, activity reporting and funding requirements.

The Manager’s position is key to developing and maintaining a strong well educated and appropriately resourced coder workforce capable of achieving high quality and timely output.

The Manager will have the opportunity to develop and employ appropriate education, mentoring, support and audit programmes and resources to ensure a sustainable and effective coder workforce in the District.

As a confident communicator and collaborative leader, the successful applicant will develop and promote relevant linkages across multidisciplinary teams including general practitioners, non-government organisations and other agencies involved in the care and treatment of patients / clients.

This role works in close cooperation with your Manager (Activity Based Funding), hospital and health service managers, clinicians, Information Technology teams and NSW Ministry of Health coding advisors and data branch representatives.
