Course overview

HLTADM007 Complete highly complex clinical coding is an elective unit of competency in Certificate IV in Health Administration from the HLT Health Training Package. This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to complete coding of highly complex medical records with an advanced understanding of coding conventions, standards and practices in an extensive casemix. This course will be of value to coders who already have significant experience in clinical coding and who wish to gain exposure to a broad casemix at an advanced level. Total course hours  250

All applicants for enrolment in HLTADM007 Complete highly complex clinical coding must pass the challenge examination for HLTADM007 Complete highly complex clinical coding which is the RPL assessment for this course. Suitable candidates for this challenge will have

  • received a Statement of Attainment for HLTADM006 Undertake complex clinical coding and have a minimum of twelve months’ additional coding experience with a varied casemix  or
  • a minimum of four years' clinical coding experience in a major hospital with a varied casemix
